Castlevania anime
Last updated . Sources are linked in the text.
There are two Netflix series: the original Castlevania follows Trevor, Sypha and Alucard; Nocturne follows Richter and a later generation. Neither requires playing the games first.
Two shows
Castlevania (2017–2021) is four seasons, 32 episodes, created by Warren Ellis, on Netflix. Nocturne is two seasons, 16 episodes: season 1 on 28 September 2023 and season 2 on 16 January 2025, created by Clive Bradley, animated by Powerhouse Animation.
Start with all six released seasons in viewing order, or use the original-series episode index and Nocturne guide. The shows have separate season numbering.
For the relationship between them, read Castlevania versus Nocturne. Dated announcement checks: Nocturne season 3, original-series season 5 and live-action movie.
Not the games
The first show draws on Dracula's Curse, Curse of Darkness, and Symphony of the Night. Nocturne draws on Rondo of Blood. Names match. Scripts do not. Game pages stay under games.
