Harmony of Dissonance maps: Castle A and Castle B

Last updated . Sources are linked in the text.

Harmony of Dissonance has Castle A and Castle B laid over the same basic footprint. Choose the correct castle before following a room marker: the corresponding room can contain a different item or have a different accessible route.

Full maps: choose a castle or combined view

VGMaps' Harmony of Dissonance map index provides combined and individual maps. The combined in-game map is credited to Narasumas, the combined guide to ErmacShazamoff, and the individual castle maps to Zeric.
Check which castle the game identifies before matching a save room or doorway. Keep a separate checklist for A and B; exploring a location in one does not mean the other castle's counterpart has been visited.

Crushing Stone: the blocked-wall route

Crushing Stone is in Castle B's Clock Tower. First take the Castle A detour through the Aqueduct of Dragons from the Sky Walkway, defeat Giant Merman, return to the tower and press the floor switch. Continue to the Death meeting and the upper-right warp into Castle B.
In Castle B, reach the room below the trapped stone and repeatedly strike the large vertical screw mechanism to release it upstairs. Return to the upper room to collect it. Equip Crushing Stone as a whip upgrade, strike and hold Attack to charge, then release the charged strike at the blocking wall.
Breaking a wall can also change its counterpart in the other castle, so revisit the matching coordinates after warping. Source: community Crushing Stone walkthrough.

Golden doors and warp rooms

The Lure Key opens golden-hued doors leading to warp zones. Unlocking one also unlocks its counterpart in the other castle. These are not the walls opened by Crushing Stone. Use the Lure Key door locations together with the appropriate castle map.

Questions

Why does my map show the right room but the wrong item?

Check whether you are in Castle A or Castle B. The castles share a layout but their contents and accessible passages differ.

Why will a normal whip hit not break the wall?

Equip Crushing Stone, strike and hold Attack until charged, then release at the wall. Merely possessing the upgrade is not enough.
